Great Barrier Reef diving, snorkelling or
jet skiing with Calypso Adventures will be the highlight of your trip
to Queensland's Great Barrier Reef in Australia.
Snorkel, dive, jet ski, relax in the sun and admire the beautiful scenery of one of our natural wonders
of the world. From first-time snorkellers and divers to experienced
wreck divers, our team offers
individual attention, absolute adventure and unsurpassed value for money. All of our dive sites are
chosen to suit snorkellers as well as divers. We can boast the best the Great Barrier Reef has to offer.
Our dive boats depart from the mainland point of
Mission Beach and from Dunk Island. This gives us and you
an immediate benefit over rival Cairns dive companies in that our travel time to
the outer Great Barrier Reef is just over one hour as opposed to two from Cairns.
This means more time diving and snorkelling on the
reef when we get there.
Our chosen reefs boast an average of 80% live coral cover compared to 40% which is the average
for the Great Barrier Reef. With our very own on-board Reef Conservation Official our crew
educate guests to appreciate our invaluable marine life and enforce the importance of its protection.
We recognise the importance of maintaining the beauty of our reefs for generations to come and
are to this end are involved with the Project AWARE Foundation.
Our Great Barrier Reef dive sites suit all levels from the experienced, scuba diving the exciting
Lady Bowen ship wreck at
34 metres, to introductory scuba divers having the
opportunity to enter into our amazing underwater world.
Snorkellers will discover small creatures hiding between the corals as well as interact with
an abundance of marine life. Calypso Adventures provide free
snorkelling lessons and floatation
devices to maximise your experience at our unspoilt sites. If swimming isn't your thing then
you are in for a treat during the months of May to August anyway as we go whale watching on
our trips out to the reef. During these months Dwarf Minke Whales and Humpback Whales migrate up
the coast to their breeding grounds on the Great Barrier Reef. Seeing a full grown Humpback
breach out of the water is a truly awe-inspiring sight.
If you prefer to stay above the water we offer jet ski
tours around Dunk Island, transfers from the mainland to Dunk Island via jet ski, jet ski
hire on Dunk Island, and private charter jet ski tours on our Yamaha Waverunner jet skis
which can carry up to 3 passengers.
